Sewing Angels of Westfield will meet from 2-4 PM at Westfield Manor on June 19, July 17, and August 7 and 21. Join us for fellowship (and occasionally treats) during the summer. Contact Cheryl N., Peggy A., or Janet J. for more information.
Belleville Summer Sack Lunch Program. Our Evangelism & Social Ministry is joining with other local churches and Kids for Christ to provide sack lunches to hungry children in our area this summer. Because the children are out of school (where they typically receive breakfast & lunch), they flock to designated locations throughout Belleville, where 200-300 lunches are served every weekday. Our responsibility will be to help pack lunches every Monday morning from June 5 – August 7 at 9:30AM at Turkey Hill Grange (next to Eckert’s). Anyone can come help any Mondays you are available. There is no sign-up sheet or commitment. Just come when you are able. Some of us may be trained to plan, organize, shop or deliver for future years. There will also be opportunities to donate extra items as needed. Talk with Peggy A. at 791-0992 if you are interested or have questions.
Quarterly Day of Service will be held on June 25th. Following the worship service, we will complete some Fiber Arts projects, tag and count them, and also have an opportunity for the young and young at heart to learn to knit, crochet, or do some basic cutting or pinning to make some of our sewn items. All materials for this will be provided. There will also be a “work team” to go out and assist some members with household tasks and yardwork that need attention. If you can help here, please bring your own tools!
Beacon Relational Lunch. It’s St. Mark’s turn! We will share a meal with approximately 12-15 homeless individuals from here in Belleville. We need people who can make a dish (casserole with meat, side dishes, desserts) to be at Trinity UCC by 12:15PM for lunch at 12:30. Our day is Wednesday, June 28th. We will need to prepare the food ahead and take it to Trinity already prepared. Please contact Peggy A., Ann M., or Janet J. if you can help with this meal.
Convoy of Hope– This event will be held on July 22, but will also require that volunteers attend an orientation/training session on the evening of July 21. Volunteers will be assigned a task (you might work in the shoe booth getting shoes for children and family members, you might keep track of names for the family photographer, you might work at one of the concessions stands, etc), but definitely something that fits with your talents and abilities. It will be held at the Jackie Joyner Kersee center in East St. Louis, and you can get there on Metrolink or in a carpool. Contact Pastor Brian for more information.
