Lutherans are known for the primacy given to music in worship and St. Mark continues this tradition. Each year we use at least seven musical settings of the Eucharistic liturgy, reflecting the contrasts in the seasons of the church year.
St. Mark’s music program includes an energetic adult choir and a beautiful handbell choir. We also enjoy the singing of our children several times a year and have many opportunities for musicians – members and friends – to play special music for worship.
Both organ and piano are used to accompany congregational song, though organ is the primary instrument at our 9:00 a.m. service. Congregational singing is robust and vibrant, and beloved hymns old and new contrast with a variety of other styles that are included in our corporate song.

St. Mark has dedicated voice and handbell choirs that are continually improving, and new members are always welcome!
Handbell choir rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel. Voice choir rehearsals are Thursday evenings at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday mornings at 8:25 a.m.
The voice choir sings from September through Trinity Sunday. We also have the joy of combining with the choir of our partner in ministry here, St. George’s Episcopal Church, for several joint worship services each year.
The handbell choir typically plays about one Sunday per month.
Even if you can’t be present all the time you are welcome to sing and/or play with one or both choirs. Please e-mail our Director of Music, Carol Kugler, to express interest or for more information.
